The Peace Talks are an annual event series with global reach that aim to expand the space for dialogue around building peace and resolving conflict. The Peace Talks were initiated in Switzerland in 2013. The first-ever Geneva Peace Talks were co-organised by the United Nations Office at Geneva, Interpeace and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform.
As a first step, Darwin Digital and the co-organising institutions set up a project team to manage the development of the site. The close collaboration within an integrated team allowed Darwin Digital to accommodate the needs of clients at every step of the way. The result is a website that has an ever-growing audience with a global reach.
The Peace Talks website has a built-in live streaming functionality. This ensures that each Peace Talks events can be live webcast. For the global roll-out of the Peace Talks series, Darwin Digital worked with local production teams in Geneva, Sweden and Kenya to ensure the uninterrupted live streaming of the events. Vigorous testing prior to the events ensured that users could follow each events online without interruption.
A built-in email notification and online newsletter tool allows the organisers to create and manage various contact lists. Participants can be grouped according to geographical interests and receive tailored information about upcoming Peace Talks events. For remote participants Darwin Digital developed a reminder tool that allows users to sign up to receive an email before the start of the webcast. This tool not only provides a useful feature to promote the Peace Talks but also allows our clients to grow their contact database.
